Interview with Jo Laureys

by

Monday evening, Jo Laureys will perform in ’T Kafaat at the farewell party. Altough he sings at events all over Germany, many of you won’t know him. Therefore we asked him for an interview.

Could you please briefly introduce yourself?

My name is Jo Laureys and I’m a musician.

How did you start making music

I was in my first band when I was 11 years old, I used to play Punkrock music. Five years later I started playing metal, so I starded pretty young.

Wich famous musicians do you admire?

Well, there are so many musicians that I admire: Ben Howard for example, but also people like Jack White,

Do you get nervous before a performance?

Yes, sometimes.

Do you have any advice for beginning musicians?

Don’t do it! *Laughs* No just kidding, if you want to make good music you’ll have to work very hard, so that would be my advice.

What’s your first impression of Lier?

It’s the first time I’ve been here, but I would say it’s very pretty.

If you would be 17 again, would you like to participate in WEMEP?

No, I don’t think so. I’m not really into politics.

As a performer, do you have any advice about speaking in front of a big audience?

I would say: take a moment to ground yourself, keep your feet on the ground and make sure you stay in the moment.
